Time to empty my catch tank after 1 year.
pictures of how it's connected (75 engine):

First pipe goes from the rocker cover breather to the catch tank,
Second pipe goes from the catch tank to the air filter pipe.

what do you think of this connection?
I saw some people use little breather filters but it won't pass MOT.

engine passed 160,000km and seems to be in good condition due to the amount of sludge, isn't it?

yeah remember that sludge is what happens when oil vapour and water mix - it would have all been gaseous and not sludge if it was going straight to the engine. All engines will create this sludge though with a catch tank - its not doing much being there really (nothing noticeable at least), its more something suited to a turbo engine but it looks cool and if you only emptying it a year on then its not much hassle either.

My only question would be do you have the little flame trap thing between the outlet on the rocker and the catch tank?

Yes. Pop it into the breather hose. It is -- as Blu says -- a flame trap. The effect is supposed to be similar to the [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Davy_lamp]Davy lamps[/ame] used by miners. Without the flame trap, there's a risk of a fire, or even an explosion, in the sump when a backfire can ignite fuel rich oil or fuel vapour (sump fires are pretty common in dragsters).

I once had a crankcase explosion in a Lancia Fulvia (for some reason it was relatively common in narrow V Lancia engines, pushrod or DOHC). The result was a big bang and a very pretty and elaborate cam cover with a few holes in it and cracked throughout. There didn't seem to be any other damage, but I never rebuilt that engine to find out.

Does it matter where I put it? bottom/middle/top of the breather pipe?

don't know if it fits the tiny pipe in the right picture, so I'd have to use the bigger pipe or maybe cut it to the right length. does the length matter also?
