Hi Can someone tell me a few things about the car, mk 1998 Punto:

i) when you are looking in the engine, just behind where the timing belt cover is, there is another belt and a large metal cog, should these be under a cover? It's just I dont recall them being open before?

ii) Where the right rear wheel arch is, as you look at it the left side has a black plastic built in mud guard, should the right side have a cover too? It seems to be the fuel pipe but with just a plastic shield at the lower part, I am just a bit worried whether a cover has fallen or or not?

iii) I need to replace the timing belt plastic cover, but from the photo it looks like there is a bolt very low down, does anyone know if this is something I have to take for a garage to do?

Thanks.

what model we talking about here?? 55/60/75/85/90/GT?

for what bits of plastic trim there should be i would take a look at the eper. http://eper.fiatforum.com/

Refitting the timing belt cover can be done at home with little more than some patience on any of the engine types - not all of them are available new anymore though so you may be searching classifieds or your local scrap yards for a replacement.

Hi, it's a 60s.

OK taken it to the MOT and it did not fail on the small hole, phew, so didn't even need to end up spending £80 for any welding. (y)

However, need some help from you all, it failed on something else. The rear lights, when you turn the indicators on, the other lights are flickering in time with the indicator, any idea what this is? The garage man says it's a short or earthing thing.

A family member is going to look at it, but can anyone point him to what he should be checking

its water in the light cluster or corrosion where the light bulb itself sits, had those problems all the time till i soldered every rear light bulb to the holder, never had any problem since

Thanks flisko, is it the same issue as this, with mine it only does that when the indicators are put on, the rest of the time it's normal?:confused:
