LOL this is the 3rd thing gone on my car this week, both front wheels have play in when rocking from left to right, knockin sound when movin steering wheel, and very light steering but sometimes gets stiff, nearly lost control goin down country road this mornin doesnt seem to have tracksion when goin left, one side seems better than the other, is this the steering rack, before i make mind up about takin it to scrap yard

My best guess is TREs and wishbones. But check it out with a freind and a pry bar.

both of the TRE'S are only couple months old after replacing the front shocks, but would wishbone make both of the wheels have the same play in both sides

Check they're on tight!

If equal play, chances are the rack has gone. Not an overly difficult job, though. Rack failure is pretty rare on FIATs generally.

Wishbones would be my first port of call. Cheap enough to replace without worrying too much too.

Worn bushes could cause the symptoms you mention, esspecially the knocking and loose feeling.
