Did a mini-service on the MK1 the other week - sparks, oil and filter, air filter and gearbox oil - prior to MOT. Did the trick - she passed first time, advisory free, with emissions lower than last year!
One slight problem though - would you expect a high initial rate of oil consumption after an oil and filter change? I put in 3.2l plus a Redex treatment which filled it to the limit. 10 days later, a couple of hundred miles, and I've had to put in a litre to fill it back to maximum
I've checked the obvious things, filter is tight enough and old gasket came off whole, sump plug doesn't seem to be leaking. Rocker cover has only just been done and I can't see any obvious spills.
Is this a common thing, will it settle down, or do I need to investigate a bit more?
