I have a mk1 1.2 8v, I have already smoothed and polished a spare tb.Now i'm moving onto the manifold. Would boring and smoothing it make much difference? Same with the exhaust manifold as i can see mine is quite restricted by the weld.

yes boring the throttle makes one of the most noticable power increases on the 1.2 8v engine mate...i have just done mine bored to 48mm same with inlet...mine now puills a lot better and accelerates much faster

pulls more midrang to top end...3k revs onwards to 6750rpm on redline can reaaly tell the difference mate

also decat...branch 4-2-1 manifold makes a lot of difference mate both inlet and exhaust modding makes most power difference iv noticed

What is your new tb from? A bigger engined mk2?

nah mate...it is a original mk2 1.2 8v throttle body that had been machine bored out and polished then overszed butterfly valve fitted

both in the pic are same throttles just the larger one i sent off to be bored out

Oh right how much did you pay? if you don't mind me asking... lol. And what size was it before you bored it? 38mm?

sixe before was 36mm i think not too sure lol cant remember il measure it for ya mate...i paid £44 to get me inlet and throttle bored mate

That including butterfly? That's well cheap! Just from a specialist near you?

yeh yeh mate including butterfly...guy takes his time to do it though because he does it in his spare time between work...if your interested let mee know i have a spare throttle and inlet if you need me to give to him mate
