My daughter is thinking of buying a 95 N Punto 55s (privately)

There is one blue key & no red one.

I seem to rember reading somewhere that Punto's had a red key from P reg onwards

sorry to be boring but i've never owned a Fiat.

New to Fiats

The early puntos, those on L, M and a few of the N reg puntos dont have the red key, look at the v5 and call the previous owner and ask them if they ever had the red key, if there was one AND there is not now, walk away

I'm pretty sure at N reg, if it has a blue key, then it needs a red (should be 1 red and 2 blue). Cinqs came with reds from M reg, on Seis, the changeover where there was no red was in 2000, and if the blue key has a transponder symbol (triangle with rings around the top) without the number 2 above it then it should have the red key - pretty sure Puntos are the same, you could always ask a Fiat dealer, the parts guys seem quite helpful even if the salesmen aren't. Bargain the price down accordingly if it doesn't come with it.

Why not put the existing blue in the ignition, turn it to 1 and see if the code light comes on (for 1 second). If there is no light, there is no immobilser, there is no red key, there is no worries.
If the code symbol comes up, distract the seller and run away.

I looked at an M reg last night, when i put blue key in ignition a key symbol briefly flashed on the display , is this the code indicating ared master key is applicable or does it mean something else ? ( Sellerdid not have a red key of course)

also went to see a 'P' 55sx adv @ £1350 , but didn't do a red key check , NOT vg cond !

I phoned Fiat customer information centre , they said with the VIN they could tell me if it needed a red key.

on my second enq today 'Emma' told me that all the early model Puntos ( up to the change in 98/99?) had red keys .
