(T) Remote central locking not working - and one more question!

Hi there,

Following on from my last post, I just wanted to ask a quick question as to why the remote key for my central locking system doesn't work.

Bought my MK1 Punto in 1998, and the central locking has always been a bit 'hit'n'miss' - having to aim precisely at the sensor, unable to lock remotely from a distance etc.

Anywho, a couple years ago the battery finally gave up the ghost, and we got a new battery fitted. However, replacing the battery never worked, and since then we've been unable to lock the car remotely.

Is there some kinda reset we should have performed inside the vehicle, or should the battery change have been enough?

While I'm here, where is the interface for the diagnostic port in the Punto? I bought a universal reader for my MR2, and wanted to see if it fitted the Punto aswell.

Do you have another key? If so test if the battery is duff.

Nope - only have the one key - and the red light flashes when the button is pressed.

could still be a dodgy battery. Battery would be cheapest way to find out.

Coolio - just ordered another one and will try it out when it arrives!

Any ideas where the diagnostic interface port is located?

You will have to find a diag unit which can talk to the ecu, there's nothing normal about this one.
The 3 pin diag socket is usually near the o/s bonnet hinge.

You need to get the 4 digit code to re-load in your remote, dont think its available from Fiat.
