Unhappy Red Key Broken )=

I have just gone and snapped my red master key in the door lock

Basicly I have a spare blue key (which i gather is the one i should have been using - man do I wish i had known that earlier!) which orignaly would start the car but i'm guesing through not been used, has since lost its codes and now will not start anymore. I have tried taping the broken key to the blue one but still no luck ):

What i'm wanting to know, is it possible to have the blue key recoded even though the master is broken or will my only option be to purchase a new master key from fiat?

If anyone can help or knows of anywhere that might be ablle to cut/recode a key without going through Fiat main dealer (Sheffield area) it would be much appreciated!!!!

Thanks in advance

Re: Red Key Broken )=

if you remove the immo pickup ring from the ignition barrel you can use the blue key to turn on the ignition whilst having the red key in near the ring, then put the ring back when you need to put the blue key in on the key learning procedure.

Its easy on a mk2 (remove bottom steering column cover, then you can pop the ring off) not sure on mk1 though.

Fiat can not supply master keys unless you want to spend £900.

You could get a red key (or blue for that matter) then use the old master key to reprogramme it. Use the good blue key to have the blade copied.
You then have a new master key.
You can get all of this done at local heel bar, though they usually have a limited number of colours.

I have only the blue master key with the remote button. Can anyone suggest an independent in the Stafford or Derby area who will make a copy. I dont like having only the one key.

You can buy a blank master key from fiat, this comes with no transponder, take the transponder from the broken key and fit it into the new master key body, then use the blue key to cut the blade at a key cutters, hey presto a new master key.

The key works fine, but how do I get a copy key complete with a transponder and remote lock *plipper* to match the master key. I know Fiat do them but they rather take the Michael on price.

Re: Red Key Broken )=

Master keys are not blipper (remote) keys, they are maroon coloured and obviously you dont have it.
That would mean that Fiat cant repair it under £1000 i.e. ecu, immo, lockset, remote reciver.
Occasionally uncut remotes are available from ebay, or you can get just the key from Fiat. When you have one post back here and find out how to get it operating in your car.
Tony.
