Posts: 861 Thanks: 11 Trader Rating: 0 Drives: | Rear Shoes Hi Guys/Girls, I have a Punto mk1 97 1.2, The thing is i need to change the rear shoes on her Anybody know the size of the socket i need to take the bolt out of the drum. Many thanks.

If the latter, then that doesn't need to come off to remove the drum, you just unscrew the spikes, release the handbrake and the drum should pull off. If it is stuck on there, the drum is actually threaded where the spikes were to help you. Bolt long bolts only partially in, and use these to pull the drum off.

Posts: 861 Thanks: 11 Trader Rating: 0 Drives: | Rite so i dont need to remove the big massive nut in the middle of the drum to change the shoes i just need to remove the 2 spike things? well i removed 1 of the spike things today with a spanner come to undo the other one and it rounded it a bit so now i cant seem to get it to budge any help on this would be much appreciated many thanks for the previous advice.

The big nut in the middle is the hub nut, which holds the hub/bearing assembly on, so not necessary to remove for this job. As for your spike nut, these are tricky little buggers to get out once rounded. First soak in WD-40 or other alternative penetrating lubricant overnight. Try to use a 12-point closed spanner rather than an open spanner. If that fails, get a deep socket that is slightly too long and hammer it onto the spike, using a breaker bar to undo it.

Also i have rang around for the rear drum shoes for my vehicle and got told that they have 2 sets for it ones that come with adjusters and ones that dont.. do you guys know if mine will have the adjusters or not ?
