Posts: 4 Thanks: 0 Trader Rating: 0 | Engine cut at low revs Hi I have a 1.2 2002 Punto. The head gasket recently blew having had that repaired I now have another problem. When I am accelerating and reach what I consider to be not excessive revs, the power cuts (engine continues to run) and the engine management light shows. If I change up at this point I can accelerate again. This problem happens in every gear and means that accelerating can take a long time (longer than normal!!). Although not mechanically minded, I do realise that engines have rev limiters. This model does not have a rev counter so I can't give you an indication of when this is happening, but it is lower than normal. Just wondered if anyone had any ideas?? Thanks

Shows you how much pressure you get from each cylinder and basically if any power is being lost from the engine. All while the engine is at operating temperature I might add

| Bugs Beware!! | Re: Engine cut at low revs Could also be a faulty sensor. (Crank sensor? dont know if the Mk2s have a cam sensor) I believe that when it gets to a certain revs it stops reading puts it into limp mode causing the problems, when you change up it lowers the revs, the sensor reads again and the fault clears. Might be worth getting the fault codes read.
