would it work......... they richen your mixture..........then the lambda sensor see's ts running rich, then itll weaken off to compensate, complete b***ox in my opinion, if it was as simple as that, I wouldnt have spent £800 having cams and remap for my last car (cavalier v6) by regal autosport...............

My dad bought one of these things saying "+25BHP"

When it arrived he was convinced and isntalled it, said he noticed a power increase.

I read the instructions that came with it and it said at the bottom "+25BHP is a brand name and does not mean that this device will increase hp by 25"

well tell him to take it off before he needs work doing on his engine, and that 25bhp thing being brand name is quite funny lol

On some older cars this trick worked but on a modern car it does damage.

Well i'm a newbie on here. I own a Punto 8v 2003 MK2.
I've been reading this thread, and i would like to know how this resistor thing can wreck your engine? Admitedly it will induce a bit of bore washing, but that cant be much worse than an old Doris driving her Mk1 Fiesta around with the choke on? It will give a bit more wear to the bore's but surely not wreck the engine............Today's oil's are really good, and can surely cope with this.
Not saying that this resistor is the way to go, but can someone enlighten me on how it destroys an engine??????????
A Chav over revving his Punto 55 will do more damage than a resistor surely?

All Fiat engines like to be revved. Except the MK2
I have owned a few Fiats over the year's, and the only one i couldn't kill was a 127 sport with balanced crank and serious head job done by Radbourne Racing. Are they still going??? That engine buried itself in the redline, 7.8k, and we could not kill it.

Yeah these fit across the air temperature sensor and constantly tell the ECU that the air is cold which gives a slight advance on the ignition timing and tells the injectors to spray more fuel but this is cancelled out when the oxygen sensor feeds back to the ECU as obviously the mixture is too rich. The ECU on modern cars will then realise there is a fault within the engine management system and put the Warning Light on! All that hassle for 3 quid, Bargain!

If you want to improve performance fit a quality induction system and make sure it has an unrestricted supply of 'genuine' cold air.

Totaly Agree with you dude!!! Dont be a cheap ass.. spend some love on ya beast!! gives you so much more pleasure driving round knowing that you spent abit of dosh on your car, well thats just me anyway!! And as i seen earlier reading threw this thread, yeah more chavs are buying the MK2 but they make them look soo crap, when us good Punto MK2 MK1 what ever one you have spend the right dosh and dont have chav writen all over them, gives them a good name so keep up the good fight!
