Unhappy Snapped cam belt

Hi all,

I've got a punto mk2 1.2 16v and my cam belt snapped this morning could there be any damage to the valves and how would i get to them as the cylinder head extension is new to me
I could do with as much info as possible.

99% you will have damaged the head/valves as the engine is interference...

you need a long ribe bit set to remove cam carrier ( head extension)

how long and how many miles you done since last new belt?

I haven't done the cam belt on this car and i've had it for 18months. The cars done around 87000 and I ave no idea when it was last relaced are the ribe tools expensive??

which engine is it that has the no interference? is it the mk1?

8v Fire's Mk1, Mk2, Mk2b, Grande
