Help diagnosing problem

Hi everyone
Owner of a 2000 W base model Punto for the last couple of weeks. Been generally fine!

However ... I drove it yesterday while fully loaded (four people and a reasonable amount of baggage) and sometimes whilst pulling away from a standstill in first there was a slight sticking/jerking with an accompanying noise.

Don't think it is this brakes as I tried coasting to a halt and it still did it, also don't think it is the suspension/exhaust bottoming out, nothing seems to be hanging from the exhaust and the car wasn't riding that low.

Am I suffering from the clutch problem that many people seem to have with their puntos (something to do with the clutch release?), how do I check? It is strange because as soon as everyone got out, I could not recreate the problem.

Thanks in advance!
p.s. no idea whether it happens pulling off in all gears, only tried first and can't recreate the problem without a full car

Re: Help diagnosing problem

Check that you can see no marks on the rar axle beam where the exhaust has been rubbing on it have seen this before and it only happens when the motor is loaded if you see marks then its probably a non fiat exhaust

clutch judder is common on the 188 puntos.

Re: Help diagnosing problem

I had this problem for a while and found out it was the exhaust rubbing on something. It stopped after I fitted my own exhaust collar that held it in place slightly closer to the bottom of the car. Only costs £2 or £3 from Halfords.

Re: Help diagnosing problem

Just to say thanks, it was a problem with the exhaust alignment, got sorted at a service, the part that was causing the noise was blowing and thus had to be replaced anyway!
