I tend to do loads of miles on my Fiats so...
Fiat Panda Verde: Bought with 44,000 Sold (five years later) with 110,000 (original gearbox and only second clutch) to my Dad who, over the next four years, took it to 180,000 miles still on the same gearbox (which was really ropey by then). Sold to a gang of Aussie students, then to a colleague of my Dad's (who told us that it had about 220,000 miles showing). I saw it for sale about six months ago, but I have no idea what the mileage was up to by then, but pretty bloody impressive nonetheless. If anyone knows what E952RJT is showing now, I'd love to know...
Fiat Tipo 1.6 DGT SX: I bought this from my Dad - it was the car I learn't to drive on - but can't remember what the mileage was on when I bought it. However when it was eventually written off the mileometer was showing 240,000 miles. It was on its second engine and the suspension was pretty shot, but it still took some idiot crashing it to kill it (Tip: don't lend the thing to your Dad...
)
Fiat Punto HGT (Mk2):
My current motor was bought 2 years ago with 10k showing, and I'm now looking at checking it in for its 48,000 mile service. There is the grand total of no mechanical faults (some electrical gremlins) and everything seems solid and tight - even the clutch. Happily trundles at 70 on the m-way for my daily 70 mile commute round trip, and responds impressively when you want it to!
So, I recommend servicing your Fiat on the dot no matter how broke you are feeling and the darn things will happily rack up mega mileage - it always used to be that the bodies would rot away before the mechanics gave up (I count myself lucky the Panda lasted as long as it did). Be prepared for some electrical probs on the way though....
enjoy
