Re: ebay FIAT PUNTO SUPERCHARGER

i doubt it will work very well, its more a psychological performance increase than physical (excuse poor spelling). lucky to get 5hp increase when running, and will defo decrease performance when not

Re: ebay FIAT PUNTO SUPERCHARGER

Putting a pc radial fan in your air intake line will decrease your performance end of.

People sold these kits in the states years ago and is now illegal to do so.

Don't buy it, waste of money/con/scam etc etc.

These things make me laugh - you may as well stand there blowing a hairdryer into your air filter for all the good it'll do

Sold by the same sort of f***wits that sell the resistor "chips", sold to the Max Power numpty-******** brigade who think it'll make their Saxo break the magic 90mph

Re: ebay FIAT PUNTO SUPERCHARGER

...anyway - it's not a supercharger. A supercharger is on a direct drive from the engine, be it belt or shaft drive.

It's not a turbo either, that's an exhaust gas driven item by definition.

It's an electric fan. An expensive hairdrier if you will.

Near the bottom of the page, read their engineer's verdict on the "twin turbo zet"

32 60mm PC fans it is then! How much "boost" would that create?

I can't work out an exact figure, but somewhere close to "sod all" seems about right
Maybe if you got a big box with four or five engine cooling fans (~60 watts a piece) and piped it into your SPi unit... then you'd get half a psi of boost

That Autospeed site is awesome, I'm currently reading up on how closed-loop oxygen sensing works. I SHOULD be revising computer architecture, but i f***ing HATE computers and cars make a lot more sense!

Re: ebay FIAT PUNTO SUPERCHARGER

lol, I should be revising but nah....

Sadly I can't read the whole of the article without subscribing.

say 6 cooling fans, => 360watts ~ 0.5BHP - not too bad, I expect you would nee d ahell of a lot more power tbh. It would be cool to actually try it I think, just to see if it could work, properly, not with ****ty little fans lol.

Hmm, I managed to read 3 or 4 full articles before it started telling me to subscribe. I'm now trying to work out how its stopped me and how to get round it

Re: ebay FIAT PUNTO SUPERCHARGER

Tried the cookies and clearing temp internet files, did bugger all.

BUT: if you reach the site from a search engine then it lets you have a few free articles for some reason. So, just google "autospeed saab variable compression" (I found the site by searching "saab variable compression" and adding "autospeed" brings the right link to the top). Click through, then you get your free access. Works time and time again

EDIT: got to use this trick in conjunction with deleting cookies every now and then. Oh well. Works for me!

Re: ebay FIAT PUNTO SUPERCHARGER

I like this one!

11. Does the e-Ram cause restriction when it is not on?

Answer: No, because of its axial blade design, it is not a factor at the flow rates under part throttle condition. Many people have seen actual HP gains by just putting a static version of the e-Ram in line with the intake system claiming better atomization of fuel and air. We have not verified these gains, but if they are real, the e-RAM should be an order of magnitude more effective in HP gains and equal in gas mileage efficiency gains than any of the existing static swirling devices. We have dyno'ed the e-RAM when mounted but NOT ENERGIZED at full throttle and measured no losses (see dyno results page for this dyno example)
