(G) Fuse keeps blowing

one of the 2 radiator fans on my hgt stopped working. I checked the fuse for FAN1 and it was blown so i replace with a new one.

A day later the fan isn't working again and the fuse has blown again so i replace it again.

Now today this fuse has blown aswell and the fan isn't working again leaving only 1 fan to cool the engine which is overheating a little.

Any idea what could keep causing the fuse to keep blowing? it's very annoying not to mention costly.

Oh right is that the motor or the whole fan that needs changing?

With engine cold and ignition off spin both fans by hand and see if they both spin freely. If they do then problem is most likely in the wiring/connections. Check all connections are secure, clean and dry and that the wiring is undamaged and not chafing on anything. Breakers yard would be a good source for a fan/motor if you do need one.

comes as whole assembly (£85 / 112 odd) depending on type.

looked at the wiring and seemed fine. Bought a new 30a relay for the fan in the fusebox and seems to be alright now, see how it's goes.

fuses blow for a reason, why not start up car & let it idle until temp guage reaches halfway where the cooling fan should cut in, if it dont & fuse blown again then you know the problem.
