hi i got a mk1punto 1.2 i have just ordered a k+n 57i induction kit for it,does it fit straight on the engine or is it something that goes on the air box? and will it make a big difference to the power?

Re: will a k+n induction kit make my car faster?

im new to puntos aswell

what ive found from my previous cars and induction kits is that they do improve the cars power slightly, but manily its the sound and revs more smoothly and generally makes car feel smoother, but on a 1.2 engine i really dout u wil feel any performance increase mate!

thing is its all about engine heat!!!
you need a very good air feed going to the induction kit, as of the mark it will suck in hot air and cause flat spots in the rev range!

ive had a KnN before and a pipercross viper- the mother of all induction kits on my previous car

it also depends how restrictive the standard airbox is...
on my punto90 1.6i 8v the standard air box is all over the place with air intake pipes in a knot! lol
so when i took all that out and replaced with KnN right near the throttel body i noticed a good imrovement in sound and performance
it also has a MEGA air feed! i put a peice of plastic to angle all the air coming in from the top grill right into the engine bay were the induction kit is

Re: will a k+n induction kit make my car faster?

I have a panel filter on the way for the coop, this will keep the standard airbox's heat shielding properties I'm going to run a hose from the front grille to ram in some nice dense cold air. I'm not sure about the standard airbox on a punto though, are they any good?

Re: will a k+n induction kit make my car faster?

Nah there totally s**te on the 1.2 engine. better off using a induction kit and hoses and leading them down to the bumper. Another good idea is making a heatsheild / Ram scoop like im doing at the moment its a full sealed unit covers the engine block then goes down to the vent in the bumper and fully surrounds the K&N induction box.

Why don't you go for a BMC Carbon Dynamic Airbox???

Ok, forget that, don't cover your model:

K&N: on my car it's made a slight improvement in accelaration, more noticeable improvement in response, and quality induction sound

Arrow Re: will a k+n induction kit make my car faster?

Hey,

New to the site and have punto 60s. i was wondering if you still need a punto model K&N to do what daryl has done with sticking the cone via hose to the the filter-less box. Could you use a universal cone? (meaning you could use almost any brand ie green for that meatier growl)

Also the hosing you have used from the box to the filter. does that come with the filter package or did you buy that seperate?

Cheers,

Josh
