Low hanging wires

I noticed that there are 2 wires hanging a bit too low. What are they and is it normal for them to hang so low?

It's Mk1 55 S.

Re: Low hanging wires

It is almost as if Fiat designed the Punto, approved the design then thought, "Bugger, where do we put the handbrake cables". Of all the design faults in the world, this is pretty minor, but irritating.

The offside cable hangs really low on mine. There is a metal loop at the front of the fuel tank that you can anchor a cable-tie to hold up the cable.

Re: Low hanging wires

I remember before I owned a mk1, I was tempted to tell people that they had a faulty wire that was hanging down. Then I realised that every mk1 Punto owner had this, including me eventually.

What happens is that the cable cover is held by a stiff metal collar at its contact points with the chassis, which provides support. Unfortunately, due to weathering effects and age, this collar crumbles, and the stiffness is lost, hence the fact the cable hangs low.
