possible timing belt slip?

Ok on way home i dwove though surfae water that turned out to be deeper than expected and slowed me from 50 to 30, com out he other side and it soulds awful my original thought was water in intake poss on the sparks should be fine shortly so i knocked it into third and put my foot down but nothgin happened just sounded really really bad. Looked under bonnet when i got home nd nothings out of place, was just wondering iffffffff

The fact that the wheels got slowed down so much with the acellerator still trying to work couldthe timing belt have slipped? or could it just be the sparks are still wet. was about 2 mins from home and not tried it since cos it raining and dark.

if neither of them could it be soemthing else?

thanks

Re: possible timing belt slip?

Won't be timing as you'd really know it. Probably just running on 3 or even 2 cylinders

Let it dry out and hopefully all will be fine

Re: possible timing belt slip?

well it just sounded really nasty, splash was well above the car both sides. Im guessing it was electric problem. Ill try it in the morning and let yall know. just wondering if it was possible for the timing belt to slip that way? cam rod would be fine, i got the 866 cam in it! :P

Re: possible timing belt slip?

i would bet electrics
i think wd40 is good
and a commpressor to spray out water
and a few rags

and dont let your mate do it
spent ages cleaning the plugs out and he took all my leads off with no markings
a month later i found my ait box wasnt tightened

I bet if anything it's water sitting around the plug's. My 769cc Panda hated puddles. FIRE engine seem to have been made to trap water around the plugs, so best bet is to check and blow out with an air line if you have one, as said above.

Re: possible timing belt slip?

yeah mine (98 60SX) used to do that every time I drove through a decent puddle when I first got it, had a 50 mile back road commute at the time so it happened pretty regularly. Scary stuff at the time and had to stop a few times until it dried out but new leads and a good clean and WD40 round the coil connections did the trick. Be fine in the morning.

Re: possible timing belt slip?

if you get new leads they will form tighter seal (arg arg) around the plugs and couple this with a spray of wd and you'll never have another problem

me thinks maybe an under tray would also be good does anyone know if the punto diesel has one us petrol heads could nick
