punto hgt hesitation problem

hello people,


i own a 2001 mk2 punto hgt.
especially when the car is cold, but not only, i feel a hesitation every time i use the accelerator pedal.
after a while you can feel it only on a "pedal to the metal" situations.
it's annoying and feels like the car's engine is castrated...
i went to a specialist (on fuel injection systems) to do a throttle body cleanup but he said that i have an electric problem and not a fuel prob.
the fiat "examiner" came up with knock sensor fault.
could this cause those probs. and a high fuel consumption?

can you not just replace the sensor?

i was gonna suggest the throttle pedal (the potentionmeters in the wear out sometimes) but theres no point if theres another fault...

and what sort of mpg? you will be lucky if you can ever reach 30mpg lol

i can do it but i want to be sure that this is the prob. i will do the work myself but this sensor cost here 118 pounds! about the fuel cons. i am not anywere near 30mpg...
on 60 mph, the engine revv. on 3000 rpm! on 5th gear!
all the hgt have this gear ratios?

you might be better posting this problem on puntomk2.co.uk, (that is, when it hurries up and gets back online) as there are a few boys that know their stuff with HGT's on there.

yes - the gear ratios sound about right, although i know some of them have a slightly longer 5th gear.
