induction kit

Would a induction kit on a 1242cc single point have any performance gain and does anyone have them on theres?

Are there any other mods you can do to improve the performance like porting the throttle body/ inlet manifold?
Is there any chip that works? (not a resistor)

thanks

depends on what inductiong kit you get...... if you get ones like K&N, green or pipercross then they dont really have much gain and most the time you end up loosing performance..... get a GSR one, there the ones you need if your looking for a performance increase......

as for other mods you could always get a gsr remap, works best if you get it with the induction kit....plus you could always get a better exhaust if you have got a standard one....

dont get it chiped tho, insurance dont really like it and they do very little....

Re: induction kit

I dont have a big budget, i was thinking of getting a cheap cotton flter from ebay and getting some pipeing and making the induction kit myself.
Do the cotton cone filters have ok filtration ?

i was also thinking of getting a inlet manifold and throttle body from the scrap yard and porting it with a dremmel, i have herd of people getting good results porting the throttle body, buy would it be a good idea to do the manifold as some people say the rough surface helps the fuel evaporate.

I could probebly spend about £200

thanks

The way you want to go about you will not end up any better. You might as well safe the £200.

Re: induction kit

You can dump an mpi head on the 1242cc 8v engine? Yeah, someone let us know the pricing for that!

No-one has mentioned how much you stand to gain from a GSR remap & induction kit either, how much would you actually get from splashing out on something like that?

What about a bonnet scoop for some lovely chilly air in that engine?

Re: induction kit

my punto came with a K&N and i would not recommend anyone getting one at all. My car feels like its loosing performance each day and its a sporting as well.

Ive ordered a gsr kit from oldschool, cant wait for it to arrive, this should bring my car alive again, pm oldschool, he'll sort you out.

on a sporting your looking at a 20bhp increase with a remap, so on the 8v your probably looking at about 75bhp+ at least, grandeJ on his grande punto 8v saw well over 80 though, but i think his bhp was up slightly anyway
