Re: induction kit

I'm actually curious to know about this MPI head business... which car would the mpi come from, how much would it cost, price for fitting, etc?

Also ... Is it safe? Are there any cons?

you get the mpi head from a mk1 punto 75. price would depend on where you got it from... scrappies or ebay. as for fitting, im not so sure

Re: induction kit

You will need the inlet manifold, throttle body injectors and fuel rail from the 75 too. Or, you could not bother fitting the 75 head at all, and just get a adaptor plate made to fit the current head. Much easier than removing the whole head!

Unless you splice the new injectors into the current ecu, you'll need the ecu, locks and keys too.

Once fitted, it'd probably be a good idea to get a remap too, to get the most out of it.

Re: induction kit

Ahh i see. So have you done this to your mk1 Mattmk1? How much you think it would be for someone to make an adaptor plate and to fit it?

It is a plate you have to make from a 8-10mm aluminium looking like a slightly oversized inlet manifold gasket with studding for both inlet manifolds.

Re: induction kit

And who would fabricate such an item? So could you just get an adaptor plate that would make it MPI? how much would this cost? I want one now

Nope I haven't. I have been collecting parts to do it, and now I've been waiting about a month for a sodding inlet manifold

I'm not sure how much it 'd cost to get someone to machine out a adaptor plate, I guess you would have to design one first, seen as it's not really a off the shelf item. I'm sure if we got a few people interested we might be able to get some sort of group buy going?

TBH, if you do go down this route, you might as well fit it yourself once you've taken the SPI gubbins out and are ready to put the MPI bits in.

si, you would still need 75 inlet, tb, injectors and fuel rail. the adaptor plate is instead of swapping to the 75 head.

Confused... what is the adaptor plate alone going to achieve? So you'd still be using the head of the 1242 8v with all these other parts?
