(G) mk2 punto running rough

my mk2 punto, (w reg) only has 45000 on the clock, has never been thrashed, never been raced or anything, yet... when i pull up to traffic lights, or stop at a junction the engine seems very jumpy, as if it wants to stall... 3 times in 2 weeks, the engine has just stalled on its own,
once just sat at traffic lights, once when i had been sat with engine running for a while and the last time, just as i was about to turn my wheel last night, the engine had been running for about 25 min...

can any one help? or tell me what it might be?

mine is exaclty the same, it sounds like it is going to stall, i have searched in the internet for an answer but cant find nothing, my mate mentioned starter motor but i doubt it.

Kind of had the same thing there with mine, mine is a 2002 Mk2 1.2 active sport.

Whenever i pull up to lights/junctions whatever it sits at about 850rpm and just judders every now and then but has never stalled. I haven't thought much of it until i saw your post, i don't have a clue what it could be, i hope someone else does.

Have you tried replacing your HT leads?? My punto did the same many years ago and RAC man said that the leads were touching and and messing up the signal to the spark plugs. New leads cured the problem

my mate had a similar problem with random stalling on a peugeot 306. he replaced the feul filter fairly cheaply and it is running fine now.

was the car in gear when it stalled? was you moving? etc.
