alarm question on my punto

right i have an alarm on my car i dont think its the standard one for it because after reading the manual it doesnt do anything that the alarm shows in the manual, right in my car ther is a little round thing with a light on my dash it flashes when i lock the car, the alaram is not fitted to my key its a separate round thing i clip to my keys and push the botton to unlock doors and meant to turn alarm on or off, my question is when i get out and push the button the lights flash 2-3 times and sometimes it beeps 3 times but other times it doesnt beep, so i was wondering if there was a way of testing if my alram is on, it does work as it went off once when i opened the boot but that was only when i heard the 3 beeps when i locked the car but when i dont hear the beeps when lock the car i can open the boot and the alarm dont go off. any advice would be great.

i just want to know that my alarm is on really.

My car is fitted with an aftermarket alarm, and if i hit it, it bleeps at me as a warning

i did tap the car a bit and nothing happened, but the little round thing thats stuck on my dash flashes when i lock the car with my remote thing, if i press and hold the button to lock the door and hold button in for a few seconds it beeps once not sure what that does.

do you know what kind of alarm it is?

does the light keep on flashing after the car is 'locked'?

i have no idea what the alarm is i just have a round thing in the car in the middle beteween the window and dash, i have a round key fob thing its blue on my keys with one button, i press and it locks the car and the lights flash, but sometimes it beeps 3 times when i press it and the lights flash othere times just the lights flash and doors lock and the little round thing in the car flashes only when locked.

its a meta alarm,reason it beeps 3 times is because its in fitters test mode (first 30 seconds)...leave it for a minute then put arm in car (leave window open enough) & alarm will go off.

(some versions beep when armed to let you know a door/bonnet/boot is open)

right will try that tomorrow thanks for that i will let you know how i get on, so how come it doesnt beep 3 times everytime i lock the car?

depends how its set-up,normally (and I mean in general) it doesn't beep (so not to annoy folk late at night) & only beeps if door open (not shut correctly) ...worth checking if there is a alarm bonnet switch fitted as these give most common problems.

Also if alarm (depeonding on version) doesn't see all doors shut (and tailgate/bonnet) it wont arm.

If armed the LED on dash will flash slower after arm up period.
