(G) Im looking at buying a fiat punto y reg advise please

hi everyone im new on here, i have been looking for a car for ages now and really like the fiat punto, i have seen a y reg fiat punto in a garage near me its black 50k miles e/w e/s c/l pas etc its a 1.2 and the man is asking £1990 for it do you think its worth this and is there anythign i need to look for when i go and have a look at it tomorrow. does it come with any extras inside? i keep hearing on web sites that they have a city button what ever that is

not a bad price tbh, puntos check the head gasket, obvously the normal things city steering is a button that operates an electric motor that helps you with the steering its a cool feature, if the car seems sound snap it up bargain

hi thanks for the reply, i have never had a punto before and dont think anyone in my family has, my dad was trying to put me off getting it he doesnt like them but couldnt explain why, he did say parts where not cheap and they where hard to repair, not sure if thats true. in my area the newest punto i can get for 2k is a r reg the area i live in is not a cheap area but if i go about 12 mines outside my town i can get a car 6 years newer, i can part exchange the car i have now well hopefully.

i would rather travel a few hundred miles to get the right car at the right price my self.

dad is mad parts are cheap as chips, and punto is one of the easiest to repair.
tell him if you havge an 8v punto and cam belt snaps you dont even have to worry about stripping engine looking for damage as its a safe engine, you just fir a new belt for £15 an off you go

i told my dad what you said and he said thats good that there cheap and easy to do, im not sure if its a 8v or 16v not that 8v or 16v mean anything to me and i know nothing about cars i guess you get more power from a 16v, i have always wanted a black fiat punto not sure why, im going to look at the car in a few hours so is there anything else i would need to check on the car or are there any common problems with fiat to look for?

I dont own a fiat, never have and never will.

But common problems include dodgey electrics and rust

forgot to say i have one problem with the car when i reverse it sounds like a pipe ratterling but only in reverse any ideas what it could be?

That might be a problem with the mounts.
