Re: mk2 city

I never use it, better off that way then it wont cause problems, also IMO the car does not need it with already having decent power steering.

Serious money to fix it.

Re: mk2 city

if its meant to cut out at a certain speed or not i aint sure but it is designed only just for parking. she can actualy damaged the whole power steering if she keeps using it.better to drive without it.even when parking shel be better off not turning it on as it can kick off problems for the normal power steering too. = costlyyy

But whats ur view Mr T, im not 100% but im sure it says in the manual that city mode is made for parking and inner city driving, not doing 70 on the m-way.

Re: mk2 city

it wont damage the steering using it all the time people that say it will or has done to theres were going to have a problem anyway and i can garantee the city button was not a main cause so dont worry about this

i believe it should phase out up to 40 kph italian remember so whatever that is in mph i suppose

at 50mph pressing it on and off should not cause the steering weight to change

also remember just because the city light is on don't mean the steering is actually doing anything

if the steering ecu had lost it's road speed signal from body computer the warning light would be on same for any other faults

i have only played with the steering on a panda at more than 40 kph and can tell you it shouldnt do anything up there but soon as you slow below that you just start to feel the difference

if you take it to a dealer they can drive the car with examiner connected viewing motor torque and a few other things to work out what it's doing at speed but if it's all found to be working normally even when the car is under warranty you will probably be charged for the time

Re: mk2 city

my punto has the city button and i hate it i tried using it going through the lanes, and parking but the slightest move and you on the other side of the road lol, i find that the steering is light enough without the city button on,
