"black stuff" around wheel arches

Hi there,When giving the car a good wash toaday i noticed a big lump of the stone chip/underseal type protection around the rim of the wheelarch was peeling off.Is there any specific fiat type stuff to use or can anyone recomend something simmilar.Icould use waxoly but this seems a bit gooey as it wont set like the rubbery compound that is already on.cheers.

Oddly enough my Punto had nothing there (Mk2) around the rim of the wheelarch.

If you want to do the most permanent/'factory' grade job, strip off what's there and paint with overpaintable stone chip coating, available from a paint supplier, sprayed with a 'shutz' gun (splattery, thick coating). Then overpaint with two-pack topcoat.

Otherwise it goes down from there on a sliding scale until you get to an aerosol can of black 'underseal' (as my friend used to call it, Road-In-A-Can) which is bitumen based. Not very thick (it has to get out of the can) but certainly better than nothing

Sorry can't give specific brands as I don't know what's available there, our brands are K&H (Australian). Come to think of it, I have seen Tektyl (the 'original', a bit like the Waxoyl brand in England) in a large aerosol can.
