Im interested in possibly purchasing a Punto GT Turbo. Could anyone in the know give me a quick low-down say on what they are like to own, for example reliability and what problems may occur with them aswell as problems in the higher milage bracket? Any advice welcome good or bad! :D

Find the best untouched model you can, few/one owner, full service history, regular (6000mile) oil changes that sort of thing, there are so many heaps out there its a mine field.

check the front bumper is wide mouth and has head light washer jets, the amount of gt's i see on ebay with the wrong bumper is endless, usually means they've been crashed and wrong bumper fitted cos the gt bumper is quite rare, cos they've all been crashed :p

make sure you check exhaust smoke for worn turbo also, and as said above, service history, low miles are the ones to go for obviously :)

they are reliable... UNTIL you fit a chip, up the boost, etc, then they are obviously not as reliable as the engine, gearbox, drive shafts etc etc is under more stress.

Being a cheap turbo many have been messed with and passed around people who thrash the car, spend little money maintaining them properly having blown their load on crap alloys and dump valves.

If Beau offers to sell you one, run away :D
