Re: how to debadge?????

Hello and WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!

The only way to properly do it is put a plate behind the holes, then use body filler to fill the holes, sand it down and then respray the boot. Looks much better though in my opinion.

Cheers,
Alan

Re: how to debadge?????

The badges on the side just ease off - no holesleft. Front and rear leave holes.

Re: how to debadge?????

I've heard some stuff here that might not be true, but I'm more to believe that its not explored enough...I think you cant say in general mk1/mk2 leaves or doesnt leaves holes, I think there are both versions...at least I'm a bit sure aboout mk2..
Everyone is sayin mk2 dont leave holes front and back, but my frineds mk2 1.9jtd 3dr not only that it has holes, the bonet also is not flat but rounded round the logo. Mine sporting is debadged and bonet is flat where the logo goes, but I cant be sure that the preovious owner didnt do the bonet paint job....he could have change the bonet to some more radical one

Bonets are great, dont you think? I think all one needs is a nice alloys and a bonet, when people see bonet and them wheels, they have no time to notice you dont have all the other stuff....

Re: how to debadge?????

On a mk2 there is a hole and recess in the bonnet for the fiat Badge. On mk1 there is just a hole. On a mk2 boot there are no holes, UNLESS you have a mk2b with the fiat badge in the middle of the boot, in which case you will again have a recess and a hole where the bolt for the badge goes through. The "punto" and "sporting" or whatever are just stuck on with trim tape. HOWEVER on a mk1, these are both held on by clips and trim tape, thus the holes in the boot. There is no easy way around filling the holes in your body work unless like was suggested earlier you are happy with using bubble gum that matches the colour of your car, sort of! The only way you can do it where it will look like there was never a badge there is to have the holes filled, sanded and then the pannel repainted!

Re: how to debadge?????

Another option not yet mentioned is the press-studs intended for holding interior trim - in our automotive shops we can buy these in small packs - usually black plastic. You could always fill the holes with those.

Or apply some stickers for your favourite radio station, etc.

I'd rather have the badges, personally.
Maybe clean the badges with a toothbrush and paint them - silver should look good.
