(G) can anyone help a damsell in distress??

hello guys

i have not long brought my first punto and need some help with a couple of things:

first when you pull off there is a noise that sounds like a beetle engine...any ideas? this is only when pulling off or when changing through the gears - when putting pressure on the engine....

also when pulling off my drivers side front wheel makes a funny noise, not grinding like a wheel bearing but a bit weird, not a knocking noise - bit like a deep rattle....bit vague i know but any ideas? i am thinking possible cv joint or rubber boot?

i am going to put antifreeze in and it says on the bottle about emptying the cooling system and then filling to a certain capacity and then putting x amt of antifreeze in...can i have this in english please?

also i have had a cd player fitted but this does not work with the steering wheel controls now..any ideas?

any help would be appreciated...

- when you refill with antifreeze it must be mixed with water, half of each. the way the bottle wants you to do it is to fill half way with water then the rest of the way with antifreeze. you can do it that way, but its often easier to mix it before you pour it in, either way make sure you get it mixed correctly to prevent freezing in winter.

- the CD controls wont work with your CD player unless you buy an adapter, for most CD players and cars there is no adapter availalbe, but for some there are, you need to check. for example if you have a Pioneer CD player you can use the pioneer adapter (part no. CA-R-PI.067) but it wont work with all pioneer CD players, only some.

-your engine noise sounds like a misfire, on a punto i'd go for HT leads or coil pack, but its hard to say without seeing it for myself and i dont even know what kind of punto you have or what age or engine it is.

-i dont know what the noise from the wheel is, with the info provided i couldnt even take a guess, sorry.


by the way, my infantile sense of humour really enjoyed your repeated use of the 'pulling off' phrase

my uncle has a fiat brava 1.6 with this little rattle by the wheel, according to him its the exhaust system but I'm not sure why my self, he had it checked by a garage and thay diagnosed it, all I can say is get it checked out by a garage, als o get the hub checked whilst your there just incase

Yeah.. exhaust shield works a bit loose (it's just a thin sheet of metal) and then vibrates against the exhaust.
