(G) Punto not running Help

I need help don't know what the problem is ith my car.

I was driving back home and all of a sudden the gear stick wouldn't go into any gears and then stalled on a 40mph road. The cars is outside my house now but what do i need to get it fixed. The gear stick goes into gear when the cars is switched off and my clutch pedal is really light.

Any idea what's wrong and how much it will cost?

same thing happened to me it was the clutch it didnt burn out but snapped or part of it snapped the clutch peddal felt ruff when pressed

Hi, did it have a dodgy gear selection problem before it failed on you? Sounds like the release bearing has slowly been making its way through the clutch plate, they do this when the bearing fails and begins to wear through the metal instead of spinning, this is common problem on puntos with 1.2 engines. If this is the case its also likely the release fork and release bearing guide bolted to the gearbox are damaged aswell but all in all your gearbox is going to have to come off cos it definitely sounds clutch related.
