most likely the person(who?) that told you that meant a fault on the connection at the starter motor.does the car start with a push start?

could be a bad connection at the starter then, its down the back of the engine, round cylinder with a heavy cable to the battery.worth checking the connection,it could have even snapped off. i had this happen once as i had a busted engine mount and the movement caused the ring connector to snap

guy who i bought it off has said that the starter motor has blown twice before, of course didnt tell little me this till i had bought it the starters tend to last a day then just blow, so is a dodgy cable easy to fix?

doesnt sound like a dodgy cable, sounds like theres something not right on the electrics thats burning out the motor.afraid best bet is to go to a garage and get it checked/replaced or take it off yourself and get it checked/replaced.dont really know whatelse it could be without seeing it.hold out for some members coming on tonight who can maybe help a bit more

its a new one on me, looks like this starter has blown up as well then, sounds like to much curent is going into it, but i dont know how that could be.
did the last guy put new starters on or is it the same one and he has just reconditioned it, could just be that's what his done and it wasn't done right.
might be worth getting one from scrappy and check how its wired whilst you are there, then see if your is wired the same way.

the only possible thing i can think of that could cause this is if the starter is not being switched off after its used too start the car.
if the starter was enguaged all the time even a short trip down too the shop would blow it.
at a guess i think its most likly a problem with the ignition switch.

btw: custard afaik cavs blowing alternators is caused by a bad earth too the alternator
(they are mounted on rubber bushes and have a copper strap which brakes, corrodeds)
