| Hi All Im New To This Site And In Fact Fiats. I Have Justs Replaced The Head And Gasket On A 95 Punto 55s. I Have Set The Timing As Best As I Can See To Fiats Guide. The Car Now Will Not Start At All, It Through The Throttle Body And Comes To Tdc And Jams. Does Any One Know Of A Way To Check The Timing Without Using The Lower Timing Mark,or Have Any Advice That May Be Of Use Thanks

| Re: Can Belt Timing Problems when i say it jams at tdc its as if the engine cant compress the mixture and stalls. once the starter is turned of the engine reverses slightly. i dont know if this will help but when cylinder 1 is at tdc the cam timing marks line up on the head. im realy stumped and in much neeed of help ![]() oh forgot to mention engine turns over fine if i disconnect the injector

| Re: Can Belt Timing Problems hi, sounds like the valve timing is out! there should be a spy hole in the top of the bellhousing under a plastic plug. remove this and turn the engine with a spanner until a mark on the flywheel lines up with the 0 degrees or tdc mark on the bellhousing. you are then at tdc, so check the cam pulley marks to see if they line up. if they don't then you may have bent the valves! this might have happened because as the previous reply suggests, you may have put the pulley on wrong!

| hi all i changed the head due to a weired noise coming from the top end. a mechanic told me it was the head, after finding a spare head and fitting it i then found out it was the water pump bearings. any way i like to say a big thanks to binki. after removing the alternator drive pully and re fitting it the right way the car started 1st turn of the key. i would also like to thank all that have offered advice thanks
