Mk2 turbo

Hello. Just became a member, hope this is the right place to post this question. I was just wondering, does anyone know if a mk2 Punto (my current car) can be fitted with the 1.4 gt turbo engine? Any information on this would be really helpful as i am wondering if it is worth considering. has it been done before or at least attempted?

thanks

Ed

Re: Mk2 turbo

How exactly is someone going to get a T-Jet engine already? Unless they hand over about 7 grand to a Fiat dealer just for the engine?

Re: Mk2 turbo

It's not like it's some RWD oversteering widowmaker is it...

It's a warm hatch with ESP, ABS, and about a million other safety features

Re: Mk2 turbo

yeah i wasnt sure that you meant the latest for some reason. I dont know a lot about bravos. I doubt i could get hold of one so soon. Plus, if i am the first, its bound to go wrong on me. What is so difficult about using the gt punto?

Re: Mk2 turbo

most punto gt engines are at the end of there life, also they are not a fire or super fire, so all the running gear and gearbox has to be changed. not worth the hassle, at least with the new bravo you be the first, its pretty straight forward, and people will want to see it as it be 1st done

Re: Mk2 turbo

A company called Autotest in italy sells a Turbo conversion kit for a 1.2 16v FIRE engine. Its just a case of finding someone to import it for you.

http://www.puntopower.com/autotest.html

I was going to use said kit on a 1.4 16v Sporting but got told by various engineers / tuning companys that the internals wouldn't take it (the conrods imparticular will only go up to about 130bhp).
