| Re: 3 wobblys and a locking?? wobbly bolts are dangerous I wouldn't fancy driving on them well it will probably bend the locking bolt depends how slack the centre is on the hub and as for high speed driving it would shake as the normal bolt would try and off centre the wheel not that wobbly bolts offer much in the way off centring anyway cant you get a set of locking wobbly's

If you want a locking bolt you will need a wobbly locking bolt. They're not a lot more than standard locking bolts and will not try to pull the alloy off-centre. Do it right, your wheels are the only things that keep the car going in the direction you want to be going.

| Re: 3 wobblys and a locking?? Wobbly bolts are not dangerous but they can really screw up your wheels(no pun intended) if not used properly. A bloke my dad knows bought a car from a dealership and took some wheels in and asked them to be fitted. Turns out the PCD was different so they used wobbly bolts to fit them. 4000 miles later he had a puncture and couldn't undo the wobbly bolts. As they sit at an angle they had scored into his wheel and he couldn't get a wheel brace around them so he had the garage pay for a new set of wheels. However this is a rare case and I like I said if used "properly" they are not a problem. Like Hellcat said, "they wouldn't be E approved if they were dangerous"

| Re: 3 wobblys and a locking?? well that's what I meant really but in the wrong hands they can be lethal they have a tendency to come lose more so than a normal bolt would so people tend to over tighten them and they then snap if they go mad on them or they are of inferior quality I'm not sure what torque setting you would use on them the same as normal I suppose you can get wobbly's which undo with a large 12 or 14 mm alan socket that would have been useful in the situation posted aboth

| Re: 3 wobblys and a locking?? You put the locking nut in....don't fanny about getting locking wobblies. Once the locking nut is fully in put in the 3 remaining wobblies...tighten each on a little at a time moving round the wheel until all 3 are tight...then just check the lot with a torque wrench. I've bene doing that for years....as have many other people and so far nobody I know of has EVER had a problem with wobblies.

| Formerly mog1571 | Re: 3 wobblys and a locking?? wobblys are fine. i would use a wobbly locker, they are slightly more expensive bot not work the risk IMO. never use wobblies to put wheels on a larger PCD car though e.g. a 5x100 wheels on a 5x112 is a no go!
