oil everywhere

i got my car goin the other day using the haynes manual and started the car befor and its goin mental? what i mean is its runnin very ruff so i opend the bonnet to have a look and there was oil everywhere so turned it of cleaned it up the started it again with the bonnet up and its cummin from the oil breather pipe (iv got a piper cross filter on the top)and i cant understand why its doing it and it doesnt say anything in the manual

I'd imagine there is a blockage in an oil feed someplace causing the oil to back up through the system and exit through the breather.
Might be worth doing an oil flush and refilling with fresh + new filter.

I wouldn't bother sounds more like a f@#ked piston ring or engine as gas leaking past the pistons will force oil and crap up the breather pipe would explain the bad running too

might be worth getting a compression test to confirm the fact
