Speadgear

just got a sporting speadgear, sometimes in reverse the engine cuts out? any ideas?

possibly the rear light's earth connection believe it or not

when the reverse lights are lit they can confuse ecu's because of the bad earth's but other than this I don't know

I had the same sorta thing, just need the throttle body cleaning out.

it never was a particularly good gearbox it was a joint development with fiat and subaru it is basicly a cvt gearbox only difference was fiat gave it the option of fully variable i.e. auto and 6 or 7 set ratios sequential

I prefer the newer ones which have a manual gearbox run completely buy electro hydraulic systems

they can change gear in a normal gearbox faster than I can

ever thought about trading it in for one of the last of the 188s new if there are any left or a low mileage example might save you some expensive gearbox work just don't tell the garage you sell it to that it cuts out in reverse

this sounds about the problem as its doing it in traffic going forwards too, i used to have a cinq sporting and that had a similar problem
