Exhaust change

Bit of a stupid question but need help with this, i bought this car and it has a twin exhaust with no silencers so its really noisy. The other day i took it to a garage for some balancing work and they told me that one of the pipes is starting to corrode and both will need replacing.

I have decided to do this now but i need to know what needs replacing (a diagram would be great if anyone has one), i presume it will be the complete section that connects to the Cat and does anyone know how much this will all cost, just want a bog standard one.

Re: Exhaust change

Its ok all i have managed to get a new exhaust for £30.00 inc delivery so just waiting for that so that i can put it on heres another question can you fit tail pipe trims to bog standard exhausts as i still want to keep some sporting element to my punto but it was just the noise that was annoying otherwise i would keep the exhaust i have.

Has anyone done this and is it hard to do?

Was thinking something like the following:

Re: Exhaust change

I am having a slight problem, i am missing a bracket. i took it to a garage to have the exhaust put on and they told me that the bracket has been removed, apparently he said that it has two prongs. Does anyone know where this bracket should be or what it should attach to? I have been asking questions on ebay but everyone keeps giving me prices for the rubbers and not the bracket.

Can anyone help?

Re: Exhaust change

just guessing that it would be the very back hanger bracket, its on the passengers side on the inside of the bumper, near the towing eye section. its a royal pain in the arse to actually get a rubber hanger in there, though (at least, on my car it was) it has two prongs sticking backwards

Re: Exhaust change

Yeah, it would be nice if i could actually find a bracket as mine was removed to make way for my twin exhaust. Tried ebay and everyone keeps trying to give me prices for the rubbers, next going to try the scrappies a go.

Re: Exhaust change

Well if mine is missing hence why i couldnt have a standard exhaust fitted back on so i presume it must bolt to the chassis.

Re: Exhaust change

Yes the bracket you are on about is bolted on with one bolt, had to replace the one on mine because it had rusted. I am sure it wasn't to much money from fiat, just go in with the chassis number they should sort you out. think it was about 6-8 squid for the bracket and about 2 squid for the bolt maybe less.

Just check with fiat because i had a right b*****d getting the rusty bolt of to get at the bracket and if you are going a scrap yard you might have the same problem getting it of ( bet your bottom dollar the scrap will charge you 5 or 10 squid as well).
