| Bolts Stuck Front Shocks on Mk1 1999 I can not get the bottom bolts to move on the Shock to front hubs. I have removed the nuts but with a 2 lb club hammer the bolts will not move, they seem to be stuck in the hub not the lower part of the shock, they will not turn or move. Any help most welcome, otherwise I think I am going to have to replace the hubs as well.

| Re: Bolts Stuck Front Shocks on Mk1 1999 Do you heat the whole thing, or just the bolts ?

| Re: Bolts Stuck Front Shocks on Mk1 1999 I had the same problem, no amount of heat or belting it would remove them. In the end I grinded the head off the bolt so I could remove the shock and took the hub to an engineering place near me, only charged £10 to drill them out. Make sure you copper grease the bolts up when you put it back together

| Re: Bolts Stuck Front Shocks on Mk1 1999 Try grinding off the head of the bolt, the place somthing as a prop (screw driver) on the bolt which is jammed (now Headless) and give it a couple of hits with a hammer (or even mallet)... should pop right out!

| What Bolts are they on Shocks on Mk1 1999 Can I replce these bolts with any good metric fine 10m or are these special? My local deal wants £20.00 for 4 bolts, seems a rip off to me. Does any one know what the spec of these are, are they 8.8 or someting stronger.

| Burninator of threads! | Re: Bolts Stuck Front Shocks on Mk1 1999 if you haven't cut them off already you needn't. get a big feckoff flat headed screwdriver, then jam it into the bolt head and you want to rotate the big bolt (you've removed the nut right?) anti clockwise whilst using the screwdriver to lever it out. once its more than half way out it should just come out by hand or with some mole grips and more levering (you have to remove wrench before you pull it all the way off, otherwise you won't be able to get wrench off as it'll be stuck inside wheelarch ).you can use the same technique for a lot of different things to do with big stiff bolts

| Re: Bolts Stuck Front Shocks on Mk1 1999 Well, none of the above would work for me so some must be worse than others.

| Burninator of threads! | Re: Bolts Stuck Front Shocks on Mk1 1999 if you got new hub carriers you'll have to get new (likely) bearings pressed INTO them (unless you have a bearing setting tool at home), as the old ones will fall apart if you try and pull them out.

| Re: Bolts Stuck Front Shocks on Mk1 1999 I have found a supplier who does not rip you off like my local Perry's tried to, the bolts only cost me £1.69 inc VAT. Arrived in the post next day, supplier is Mangoletsi at Knutsford Phone No. 01565 722899 Ask for Steve. For those who know about it, I checked Fiat ePER these blots know way sell retail at £5.00 each, so up yours Perry's ( they have done nothing but give Fiat an Alfa a bad name around here in more ways than one). The spec of the bolts is metric fine 1.25 mm per turn, strength 10.9, (No. stamped on the head), the length 65mm, but 60mm is OK, that extra 5mm has no thread on it anyway.
