Ticking sound on driver side wheel

Hi everyone, Im based in pretoria, have owned my fiat punto 2012 for about a year and half now. Its now 82000 kms in, bought it when it was 41000kms. As of late I have been hearing a sound from the wheel if I drive over 120km/ph on the right side, its sounds like something is ticking, the faster I go, the faster the sound gets. I was told it could be a bearing that is broken or the discs. Has anyone had this problem before?

Do you have car serviced by a garage at least once a year?
In SA is there a mandatory government safety check?

Yes the car gets serviced yearly, I just recently serviced it and they didnt notice anything wierd. Roadworthy checks (safety checks) were done by the dealership that sold me the car, they are only required by government if the car changes ownership

Take it back to garage who did service , tell them the problem and a ask them to check it.
If it's loud enough to hear at 120kms/h safety check is essential.

A wheel bearing usually has a whine or rumble, though it can 'click' as well.

Other causes of a clicking sound can be caused by a worn joint in a driveshaft, or the splined ends of the driveshaft itself.

The noise may become louder when you have the steering at full lock.

Re: Ticking sound on driver side wheel

To ask the obvious, have you actually had the wheel off & inspected things yourself? Erm, without sounding funny, that would be my first port of call....

I the thought did come to mind but I would probably do more harm than good since I would first have to figure out how to take off the wheel since I know nothing about cars

Re: Ticking sound on driver side wheel

It isn't something like a bit of gravel or stone stuck in the tyre tread is it ? as that makes that sort of noise.
