Hi all,

My 500x is in the garage and I have a courtesy car in the form of an Alfa Romeo Mito 105 Twinair. I know this isn't an Alfa forum, but I understand that this engine is in various Fiat products too - hence posting in the Mito equivalent forum :) Also I cannot be bothered to register on another forum.

Anyway, the Alfa they have given me a near fully loaded car with almost every toy you could want. It also has this 2 cylinder Twinair engine. Dear god, it's bloody awful! Rough, noisy and gutless. Even idling the whole car is juddering. And when under load/setting off, it sounds like a truck! It's an awful, uncomfortable driving experience in my opinion. Sounds like a VW Beetle.

Anyone got any contrasting thoughts? Or maybe they agree?

bear in mind it's sub 900cc , and ZERO VED:)

EDIT - mine is the 85 standard trim not the "sporty" 105..

my 5 door punto probably weighs more,
does 50mpg at m-way limit, and is fairly smooth:cool:

rough idle is a sign that the plugs haven't been changed - typical "pool car"

turn off ECO , and drive it with REV's;)

Oh, believe me, I did put my foot down! The garage journey requires a hop on the motorway, so I may have used the slip road to its full advantage... And whilst it did make noise, I personally just didn't like the noise it made. Sorry! I guess I have been spoiled by the Ford 3 cylinder EcoBoost noise which sounds like a baby V6. I appreciate they are very different engines though.

And I doubt the spark plugs are dirty. It has has 450 miles on the clock! :p

Ah....

Actually. There is the answer..

It's so TIGHT it can barely crank.
Mine wouldnt pull 6 th gear at that point..

They noticably free off up to 10k miles. And take @ 15k to actually WORK

TBH ..
I thought the TA option had finished..back to 4 pots ..

until the new 3/4 cyl

FIRE replacement is sold in Europe.
