I had a towbar fitted today, and i have to say that the guy who fitted it did a fantastic job and did not rush the job , however when he went , i decided to go to work, got in the car and the dash said airbag failure please read manual , the towbar fitter come back and tryed allsorts, he really did try bless him, in the end he asked me to take it to the main dealer and hope its just a reset, he did say he would pay the cost and as he did a fantastioc job , lets hope its just something so simple .

Hi, :)
AFAIK the airbag error's wont just clear ( after a few car starts)..they have to be switched off via a link to the ECU,
MultiECUSCAN is great for this.(y)

out of interest did the towbar fitter go full length of the car, wiring into the fusebox..I had one done this way worked perfectly for years..but was an 8 hour job..!!
others just cut into the wiring in the boot area..NOT recommended.:(

maybe member Adrian Bravo will know of a place in your area.

yes i live in cleveleys near blackpool . he did not tale the battery , howver when the fault accured he then took the battery of and put a wire to each terminal as he thought this would clear, oh the joys of motoring

the car is booked in to fiat monday afternoon, so i will let everyone know what they say for future reference

well just an update , the car went to Fiat Blackpool yesterday and there were 2 pages of fault codes all from the day the towbar were fitted, they said that there were no active faults and just needed a reset , its now been 24hrs and all good with no warning lights on, I had an email from the towbar fitter asking how much does he owe me for Fiat dealer, He were a decent genuine guy, however fiat did not charge me so all well in the end,

RESULT..do let the fitter know though.., chances are if He'd removed the battery power whilst doing the job.. most of the sensors wouldn't have seen the dodgy readings that triggered the airbag light.

FYI, the Stop/Start failed on my Punto.. got dealer to check the battery at service time.. the ECU had 1340 "faults" stored.. from starting the engine without the seatbelt on..,
technology eh..!!
