I noticed the SMMT issued their registration figures for the start of 2016, and the Corsa is in 3rd place with 4,803 registrations during the month:

I have seen a few of the latest versions of the Corsa and I do think they look really smart.

But...correct me if I am wrong, but the current Corsa and Punto are still more or less the same cars as the ones developed together in 2006 (i.e. the Grande Punto). The difference being of course that the Corsa has moved with the times, whereas the Punto really hasn't had anything done to it since the intro of the Evo six years ago.

Just seems such a shame how the Punto has pretty much died a death these days. People talk about the 500 "brand", but the Punto has also had good brand value for many years?

I see a few Punto Evos about but not many. Saw an Abarth Evo SS the other month too, a rare sight indeed!
With all the new cars Fiat and Alfa are pumping out, I'm holding onto hope that the Punto will be given new life soon. I can't stand the new design of the Indian Puntos, that needs to be dropped asap.

I have had my new Punto Easy+ now for 5 weeks and I am really pleased with it, but they seem a rare sight around where I live. There are a few Grande's around but evo's and 2012+'s are like hen's teeth!

Shame really as it seems a great little car and personally I got a great deal on mine but they don't seem to be actively marketed.

I also hope that Fiat launch a brand new Punto soon, if only to start to claw back some of the supermini market. I must admit though, I do genuinely fear for what they'll create. The Grande Punto has to be 1 of the very best looking superminis ever created, if not THE best, but the latest superminis are overstyled eyesores, so I just hope that a new Punto will buck that trend, and have its own unique, aesthetically pleasing style.

I'd like to think that there will be another version coming out at some stage. I know the Group strategy is going to be focusing on the 500 and Panda, but you would hope there will be room for the Punto.

The Panda: fair enough, but relying heavily on the 500 is very risky. With the 500 hatchback being the main product, Fiat are forcing themselves down the retro style route, and if they're not careful, it may end up as a fat, bloated, hideous mess like the current Mini. That sells like hot cakes, but without the marketing might of bmw behind it, a fat, bloated 500 hatchback might not fair so well. I notice that the latest vw Beetle doesn't seem to be as much of a hit as it's predecessor was.

If Fiat make a good job of a new Punto, then they'd stand more chance of increasing their market share in the UK.

The current Corsa is indeed still related to the Punto having had a massive overhaul recently.

I was sceptical of the overhauled Corsa at first, however I have driven over a thousand miles now in a brand new 1.3 Eco flex.

It is markedly better, the older version was not a pleasant car to drive. The new one is perfectly acceptable car to drive and the interior is fairly decent. Rides and handles a lot better. Also the 1.3 multi jet has been significantly smoothed out.

Shame Fiat didn't massively overhaul the Punto neither. It's very dated now and long in the tooth.
