Has anybody seen the facelifted 'Fiat Punto' due out in 2012 according to the picture in Auto Express it appears to lose the distinctive chrome piece on the bonnet with subtle changes elsewhere. There are three new colours added to the range. Have also seen an image of a Punto Evo Cabriolet, which does look interesting, the noticeable difference obviously no roof but the rear light clusters make it stand out but no indication as to when it is due out or if it comes to the UK, and even better the all new Punto due in 2013 which, at the moment, are only drawings, also looks very good. Just Googled New Fiat Punto 2012. Anyone else had a chance to look?

When Evo pictures were leaked on the internet, the vast majority of the Grande Punto fraternity freaked out. All the car needed was more frugal engines and more storage room in the cabin. Nothing else. Yet Fiat went on and wrecked the Giugiaro's original by putting black plastic inserts everywhere, and a hyundai chromed face. Sorry Fiat, but if I fancy a hyundai, I'll buy the real thing (with a 5-year warranty!), thanks. The latest facelift simply shows that the Evo was so misjudged, last double-quick facelift was the 2001 BMW 7-series (the first one totally designed by Chris Bangle). It now looks better, mles better, although it still falls short of the purity and elegance of the Grande. I'll stick to my series 1 sporting JTD for the time being, hope the next Punto (2014) will be a return to form.

I think it looks fantastic, much better than the Punto Evo, and dare I say, Grande Punto!
The new front end/nose reminds me of the Fiat Coupe.

Some elements are an improvement on the evo, loosing the black inserts in the bumpers for example. However, the bulges under the headlights are not great and the rear actually looks worse IMO.

Neither design are a patch on the original GP.

love the front view, if it were slammed and some subtle mods would look so mean! as for the rear though....no...even debadged and smoothed would still look odd imo, sure im not the only one who loves the big low ass of the s1 s2 GP!

Very true, there was nothing wrong with the original grande punto and it was selling well, the punto evo soon put a stop to that.

IMO it's all good and well changing the looks but I bet it will retain many of the faults of the previous models:rolleyes:

I dont like it, looks like Fiat have thought 'how can we make it look like the original grande whilst still using the evo lights'.

All they needed to do was stick to grande bodywork but with the evo interior and engines.

Are you kidding me?

1. The front end looks like a sea bottom crawler
2. The interior??? What the feck! To me it looks like it's trying to copy Citroen with all that stupid writing.
3. The bumper still looks like it has a growth on it.

If they based it on the Grande Punto or even got the designer of the Grande to design this (or did he?!) they would hopefully look a lot sportier.

The only positive I see is those netting pockets on the side of the gearstick console. Very handy.

Its next to useless the elastic at the top isnt strong enough to even retain a 2x AA maglite on the back roads :bang:

Much prefer the Evo's bumpers to those.... the rest of it just looks like an Evo IMO

Suppose it will have DRL's and cornering fog lamps to upset most of the moaning people.... who grumble about fog light use and been dazzled by DRL's....

Had one bloke in front of me gesticulating at me at a mini roundabout flashing his rear fog light on and off as i was indicating and the off side fog light was on..... cancelled the indicator and rocked the steering wheel back and forth He soon stopped
