Punto power issues

Hi all,

Mk 2 1.2 8v Punto recently had a HG change and cambelt change. All runs sweet for the first minute from cold, then power loss for most of the drive with intermittent regain in power which doesnt last for long. Fuel economy is absolutely awful (220 miles per tank instead of ~400 usual). Checked the plugs which had evidence of previous sooting so cleaned them up)also looked at air filter which was oily as hell - removed and changed but all to no avail.
Can anyone help?? Any help much appreciated!

Question Re: Punto power issues

its all started since the cambelt was changed, but ran sweet no power problems for about a week, then over time the intermittent power loss became more permanant (with power being intermittent) now there's only normal power for about 1 minute from cold, then all goes to crap. Petrol consumption goes relatively normal if i drive like an OAP - no hard accelerating, and no excessive revs. But this does mean im doing under 70 on the motorway (

Re: Punto power issues

had the HG changed at garage but didnt want to pay extra £100 for cambelt so waited a week and changed it myself. all timing marks lined up and ran fine for a week then symptoms outlined above kicked in...

Exclamation Re: Punto power issues

i wondered if maybe teeth had skipped but dont know why it would run for a while then loose power intermittently rather than run badly full stop. Hoping its not the sensor - silly money quotes from dealer...
