(T) Punto elx fan switch!!!

can anyone tell me where my fan switch is under my bonnett, my fan wont work!!!

Have you got a mk1 or mk2?

i dont know lol!!

What Reg/Year is it?

MK1, did you check the fuse? if not blown, start at the fan and work your way back with an electrical tester, and try powering the fan from the battery to check it works good luck Ant!

i have connected fan to battery and it works??

there is a big fuse under the bonnet near top of pasenger wing, it has a pic of a fan on the cover, the fan switch is screwed into the rad

as dave says check the fuse first.

if fuse is ok,then i would then i would proceed to to remove fan switch from rad and test it.

if you are going to remove fanswitch,you will first have to drain coolant from the rad ,the once u remove fan switch it would be worth immersing if in hot boiling water to see if it cuts in(switches on) and for this you could attach a 12 volt supply to the switch terminalstogether with either a test lamp on voltmeter .

the fan switch is located at the bottom of the radiator on the same side as the radiator filler cap,. you'll see a cable with a plug connector on it, unplug this and bridge the two wires in it with a piece of wire. the fan should now come on, if i does then you know that the rest of the circuit is fine and the fan switch is the problem, if it doesnt then you can check the fuse as described in one of the above posts,.,.
