(T) 1.9 Jtd Elx Fan Wiring Diagram

Hi,

I have a JTD, it used to have a doubble radiator/aircon Fan unit, I had a crash a little while back and the fan unit was all mashed up as was a small black electrical box that is on the wiring loom to the fans, i presume it makes either one or both of the fans switch on??

I have baught a single fan unit that fits and I am assured it came from a JTD with Aircon, but i am left with the issue of HOW DO I WIRE IT UP????
(my haynes manual does not cover this car!)

can anyone please shed some light as to what this small black box on the wiring loom was or is called? or how I may be able to bypass it or just rig up the fan so it comes on when it reaches a certain temperature.etc

a glitsy name for a few big ass relays in a box

my volvos had a similar thing, and the control unit was massive, had three big bugger off relays in it.

You really need the box, a home made job won't do the job well enough, fans can use upto 60amp current EACH!!!
so if your cooling fan AND the ac pusher fan are both on (so a sht hot day and you've just suddenly come to a halt on motorway, both may come on!), that'll be about an 80amp drain, and a petrol car would struggle to idle (hence why 1242cc's don't have a/c usually).
