(T) Gear stick

hello ppl! may sound stupid but how do u change the hea dof the gear stick (ball) on the MK2? do you just unscrew it? Also what is meant by universal gear stick?

If so the best way is to hacksaw it off.

This guide will help you for some of it. Remember this is for a lift up reverse gearknob and not sure if this is the system used in a MK2 but it will give you some idea.

If changing you will need the OMP adaptor IIRC or else it wont go on.

Universal gearstick - a gearstick that fits any car if its compatible i.e. lift up reverse, non lift up reverse etc. Its usually just the knob that is universal rather than the stick itself.

ok cheers mate. yeah i no its a lift reverse on the MK2 jst dint no whether i could use a universal gearknob or if i had to search for a specific lift up reverse knob and yeah sorry i did mean change the gearknob and not the stick.

That guide sounds confusing for me may hav 2 get halfords or some place to fit it instead of me ****ing up

well mine came off in em hand other day
its slides onto a splined shaft. dont know why itc ame off i would imagine there is normally a clip or something that you cant see that has broke on mine

oh lol i wish mine would just fall off so i could put a new ball on! i dnt wanna do all this hacksaw stuff i no i wil bugger it up

Just pull upwards hard, theres no clip.
