MK1 Steering Wheel nut

Just a quick question.

I'm taking the steering wheel of my MK1 55sx tomorrow to change the indicator column, but I need to know the size of the steering wheel nut so I can get one before I take the old one off.

Fair enough. One less thing to worry about.

Re: MK1 Steering Wheel nut

You are mean't to 'stake' it, which means thfwacking it with a dot punch, this would mean you should change nut, but it also damages bolt (like cyl head bolts are mean't to stretch over time) so you are no better off from replacing it, just do it up tight! Only prob I have with steer wheel is I got a remote one from an ELX, but no wiring, and centre pod thing keeps falling off when I hit horn!?!?

Re: MK1 Steering Wheel nut

It should be a 24mm nut - normally when reusing the nut just mark it once to show that its been reused once.
