| Fuel Injector Warning Light - 1.1 55SX My son has just completed his first motorway journey(250 miles) in the above (L Reg) & reports that the dashboard injector warning light comes on at 80 mph and goes off again at 65 mph, with no noticable change in performance. I've recommended some injector cleaning fuel additive, but now on reading this forum am inclined to think it may be the EGR sticking (probably closed). So, questions: a) Is this causing any damage to the engine? b) Does an L reg 1.1 Sx actually have an EGR (the workshop manual is at his end of the Motorway, not here!)- because when the car was here I had the airbox off to fix a rocker cover gasket leak - never noticed any 'barrel-shaped object' (but then I wasn't looking for it) c) What are the chances (in anyone's personal experience)of cleaning up the EGR compared to needing to buy a new one? all things must pass.

| The 1.1 doesn't have an EGR, it will more likely be a fueling problem. Fill up with Optimax as often as you can (it contains cleaning agents) but it does sound like a lambda problem. I personally would leave it until (IF) it gets worse, if the chance arises you could try to clean the sensor and the connector (carefully with no thinnners). Golden rule - Never let Fiat work on your Fiat, they know nothing about them.

| Ok, UPDATE: I had sent him off with a full tank of Optimax before he first reported the light coming on last week. That journey used only 1/4 tank. He's been back home again this weekend & now gone back. He reports that the injector light has stayed off on both these subsequent journeys, so my current assumption is that the Optimax has done it's work (eventually!). Thanks to all who gave advice - & it looks as though 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' are the wisest words. Magikbilly - he said that 70mph was around 4000 rpm (working from memory, not a test). Sound right? all things must pass.

| Fat pigeon... APPLE! | 70mph@4000rpm is about right, my '94 5-speed 55SX does the same. Although Optimax failed to fix the same prob on my car! FIAT: Fix It Again Tomorrow...
